This was supposed to be a blog about extracting every ounce of pleasure from life, but it seems to be, in fact, largely a dream journal with notes on baking, Trader Joe's, and celebrity chefs.

C'mon sparrows, I shelled out for black oil sunflower seeds...
There were a few fly-bys yesterday, but no feeder landings yet.
Woodpeckers are OK! We have three different kinds hanging around. The Pileated WP is about 14" in length, then there's a mid-sized wp and a smaller one.
During the spring one of the smaller ones occasionally does his pecking on the metal down spouts on the house --- it sounds like a rock n roll drummer with a machine gun. Chase him away and he's back in a few hours.
We think he's doing an amplified mating call. A very modern woodpecker I suppose.

Cool would be hawks and eagles hanging out ... maybe a few owls, egrets and cranes too, just chillin'. But no sparrows.
How about the woodpecker I saw yesterday? He was striking.
